These three photos were all taken today at the same thrift shop. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a THREE WAY TIE for worst thrift shop item(s) of the year!

First up we have ancient half-used Avon products. If you have sweaty feet and ashy skin, Thrift Center has the solution.

Then there's FIDO-SHOCK. No good can come of this.

What can I say about this little display (which I set up, of course)? Between the ruined cannister and the TOXIC MOLD, I am speechess. TOXIC MOLD, PEOPLE!!!

BTW, inside the cannister was another cannister marked "corn meal". I was hoping there would be some bread crumbs inside, but no such luck.

Who doesn't love a good book? Why, the thrift stores are just chock full of interesting reads! There is truly something for everyone.

Ladies, say you want to meet that special someone. These books should make it easy, but may make you look a little desperate in the process.

 Don't know what to say? This book will tell you all you need to know. Of course I didn't buy it. I don't have a problem not knowing what to say. I have a problem knowing when to stop talking.

 

The awkwardness doesn't end there! They say a way to a man's heart is through his stomach, but what if you're the type who can burn ice cubes? Another HELP! book to the rescue.

 

Be thankful it's not The Seventeen Cookbook! Those recipes would frighten anyone.

 

 

Suppose it's not a man you're after at all! Sometimes a gal just needs a little time with her ladies. The Seventeen Cookbook has the answer, of course.

 

Whatever you do, you always want to make your guests feel at home in your home. Er...maybe not too much at home.

 

So remember, life's too short! Get yourself some thrift store books and start improving your life today.

so bad it's bad

Contrary to popular belief, I don't bring home everything I see at the trift stores. I may not have taste, but I do have my limits.

Here are some recent thrift flops. I know they're just waiting for someone to appreciate them, but that someone is not going to be me.

First off we have this grandfather clock AKA That 70's Clock. Nothing too wrong with it at first glance.

 

For me, the deal-killer was the feathered clock face.

 

Maybe the fact that it was marked down to practically nothing made me think that no one else wanted it, either.

 

Personally, I think it would go great with this coffee table. Yeah, the one with the huge branch sticking out of it.

And what is this thing? I feel a little sorry for it, because some kid made this and now it's sitting in a thrift store. Of course I didn't feel sorry enough to take it home with me. Perhaps someone else will find that it's exactly what they were looking for.

 

There was a huge stack of these things. When I say huge, I mean there were at least two or three dozen or more all sitting in a bin. I know I don't have to spell it out for you, but people were avoiding these like the plague.

 

Ok, I'm done griping for now, but I'll keep my eyes open for more thrift flops to share with you! You've been warned.

Maybe you've seen this before, but I saw it for the first time today.

 (Gotta love the American flag- nice touch!)

Yup, you guessed it- it's a neighborhood shipping center! They also have a cute li'l (if somewhat manic looking) mascot.

I don't know about you, but I'd be a little nervous about upsetting any of their employees.

I spotted this commemorative booze bottle on a recent junking trip. Yup, it's shaped like Glen Campbell.

 

Is it just me, or was that a bad idea?
